The hotel is located in the old neoclassical railway station on Viale Monte Grappa, 12, that opened in 1840 for the Milan-Monza route. The hotel’s creative direction is led by Rossella Jardini and Moschino’s creative team.
The exterior facades were restructured to be faithful to the original structure, while the interior was completely interpreted in the Moschino style.

The restaurant Clandestino Milano extends from the hall to the terrace, the Culti spa and the gym are located on the lower levels.
The common thread connecting the rooms is a fairy tale theme because to sleep is perchance to dream, and dreams are fairy tales that we are allowed to experience first hand, the fables of a fantasy world that we have created. This is an alternate life in which we direct and stage the scripts of our very own play. The hotel interior reflects Moschino’s distinctive style where the ordinary world is painted with a brush of surrealism.

The creativity of the 65 rooms of the Maison Moschino has been inspired by dreams and fairy tales. 16 fanciful settings each different that give name to the 65 rooms of the hotel and that are surrealistic visions obtained by adapting the typical language of fashion to the interior design.  The common thread connecting the guestrooms is a fairy tale theme inside a dreamlike environment which tell an optimistic story about a fantasy world and come to three-dimensional life. “Alice’s Room”, “The Petal Room”, “Red Riding Hood”, “Forest”, and “Gold” transform sleep into a dreamy experience, continuously weaving between a fairytale dream and upbeat, optimistic reality.

In the heart of the Emilia-Romagna coast in Rimini’s historical centre, the duoMo hotel addresses the needs of a young, dynamic clientele with its unconventional and exciting design. The entrance to the hotel is through giant pin-ball-flipper-like doors. Designer’s Ron Arad Associates have integrated the original façade into the interior by wrapping it all in new “skin” which meanders its way into the building and forms the back wall of the bar. The bar itself is a large island construction with fjord-like recesses for dining; the material used is polished stainless steel, creating distorted reflections which highlight the activity in the bar. The 43 bedrooms and suites of the duoMo hotel are uniquely designed with individually formed bathroom “pods” forming the backdrop to the sleeping area.

The duoMo hotel provides guests with first-class business facilities in its meeting room and hi-tech business centre. A busy day then calls for a stop in the exclusive atmosphere of the private noMi club. Aperitifs plus a wide selection of cocktails and a superb Italian wine list are all part of the experience. Teaming up with some of the local clubs, the noMi club & bar with its live DJs is a hotspot for guests and locals and the Sunday party is not to be missed.

nanjing china’s newest cultural facility, the ‘nanjing museum of art and architecture’ by steven holl architects is now complete. regarded as the gateway to a new cultural development, the museum explores shifting viewpoints and layers of space reminiscent of spatial compositions seen in traditional chinese paintings.

a single winding passageway is lifted into the air by a two large stilts, unwrapping in a clockwise turning sequence until it stops to focus on the city in the distance. acting as a visual axis to the nearby urban and natural environments, the raised and linear volume creates an intimate gallery space that isolates and controls the attention of the visitor.

a single open stairway provides access to the upper gallery, housed within the off-white corrugated structure. an encircling bamboo-formed concrete wall limits access and shelters the structure, rising and falling as it makes its way around the volume.

MINI Sintesi
The Mutant Architecture & Design exhibition initiated by renowned Italian design magazine INTERNI under the watchful eye of Gilda Bojardi, places MINI at centre stage through its design installation “MINI Sintesi.” The exhibit is on display in the magnificent Cortile d’Onore at Milan’s state university, the Università degli Studi di Milano, as part of the Fuori Salone 2011. Also participating in the show are Zaha Hadid Architects for Artemide and Ingo Maurer for ENEL. “MINI Sintesi” is a 3-D sculpture created by Head of MINI Design Anders Warming and his team. It embodies the evolution of the MINI Family – “from the original to the original” – using the contour lines of various cars’ profiles. The outlines of the individual cars use cylindrical extensions along various axes to produce a three-dimensional picture of MINI Design through the ages across a 6.5 x 6 x 2.7-metre surface. The contours of the classic Mini, framed by the silhouettes of the MINI Hatch, MINI Clubman, MINI Countryman and MINI Coupe Concept car – the most recent arrival – represent the centre point of the installation. The MINI Coupe Concept represents a foretaste of an innovative vehicle concept which is set to come onto the market before the year’s end.

“MINI Sintesi” expresses the iconographic design language of the individual family members through the colouring of the contour lines. When it came to the colour scheme for the sculpture, Anders Warming turned to the original exterior paint shades of the individual models. The structure of the futuristic installation is a reference to a fundamental design principle of the MINI family: all family members emerge from the same core and share the same genes. However, they also display some very different and individual characteristics. And so the overall form of the installation changes as you move around it, encouraging the visitor to view it from various angles.

EDON MANOR is an original, first rate accessories shop with a nod to English style.

It is that rare relationship between London and its country- side, where the city fades and the rolling pastures begin, which has been the heart of this vision. The aim has been to bring that distinctly English mood: comfort, tradition, and eccentricity, to New York City.

EDON MANOR is more than just a store. It is a community, a vision, and an attitude…It is a place where women can find all the trimmings of the season in one place.

Milan design fair

On the occasion of the Salone del Mobile (April 12-17) this week, Disney has put together a show of rooms inspired by its film TRON: Legacy.

Design companies including Studio Ito Design, LagoStudio, and AquiliAlberg have contributed creations, all of which were made using DuPont’s Corian solid surface, to outfit a ‘safe house’ inspired by movie character Kevin Flynn’s virtual home.

The project – which will be on display at Padiglione Visconti (via Tortona 58, Milano, in the Zona Tortona area) – features a bathroom with a tube mirror, a bedroom with a free-standing tree, and a futuristic home theater inspired by Flynn’s Arcade.

All rooms recreate the characteristic Tron feeling thanks to geometric forms and backlit elements.
