The hotel is located in the old neoclassical railway station on Viale Monte Grappa, 12, that opened in 1840 for the Milan-Monza route. The hotel’s creative direction is led by Rossella Jardini and Moschino’s creative team.
The exterior facades were restructured to be faithful to the original structure, while the interior was completely interpreted in the Moschino style.

The restaurant Clandestino Milano extends from the hall to the terrace, the Culti spa and the gym are located on the lower levels.
The common thread connecting the rooms is a fairy tale theme because to sleep is perchance to dream, and dreams are fairy tales that we are allowed to experience first hand, the fables of a fantasy world that we have created. This is an alternate life in which we direct and stage the scripts of our very own play. The hotel interior reflects Moschino’s distinctive style where the ordinary world is painted with a brush of surrealism.

The creativity of the 65 rooms of the Maison Moschino has been inspired by dreams and fairy tales. 16 fanciful settings each different that give name to the 65 rooms of the hotel and that are surrealistic visions obtained by adapting the typical language of fashion to the interior design.  The common thread connecting the guestrooms is a fairy tale theme inside a dreamlike environment which tell an optimistic story about a fantasy world and come to three-dimensional life. “Alice’s Room”, “The Petal Room”, “Red Riding Hood”, “Forest”, and “Gold” transform sleep into a dreamy experience, continuously weaving between a fairytale dream and upbeat, optimistic reality.

nanjing china’s newest cultural facility, the ‘nanjing museum of art and architecture’ by steven holl architects is now complete. regarded as the gateway to a new cultural development, the museum explores shifting viewpoints and layers of space reminiscent of spatial compositions seen in traditional chinese paintings.

a single winding passageway is lifted into the air by a two large stilts, unwrapping in a clockwise turning sequence until it stops to focus on the city in the distance. acting as a visual axis to the nearby urban and natural environments, the raised and linear volume creates an intimate gallery space that isolates and controls the attention of the visitor.

a single open stairway provides access to the upper gallery, housed within the off-white corrugated structure. an encircling bamboo-formed concrete wall limits access and shelters the structure, rising and falling as it makes its way around the volume.

On the occasion of the Salone del Mobile (April 12-17) this week, Disney has put together a show of rooms inspired by its film TRON: Legacy.

Design companies including Studio Ito Design, LagoStudio, and AquiliAlberg have contributed creations, all of which were made using DuPont’s Corian solid surface, to outfit a ‘safe house’ inspired by movie character Kevin Flynn’s virtual home.

The project – which will be on display at Padiglione Visconti (via Tortona 58, Milano, in the Zona Tortona area) – features a bathroom with a tube mirror, a bedroom with a free-standing tree, and a futuristic home theater inspired by Flynn’s Arcade.

All rooms recreate the characteristic Tron feeling thanks to geometric forms and backlit elements.

It is the presence of water that turns a space into a bathroom. Our washbasins, shower areas, shower trays and baths collect the water and give it space to develop its effect.

A wide variety of materials, a large number of different shapes, sizes and dimensions as well as worlds of colour tailored to modern floor and tile trends are the special features of our range. As a result, you gain the opportunity of finding your individual solution to meet every requirement and to fit every room.

With a prize-winning design, we repeatedly set standards in modern bathrooms. In addition to our baths and shower trays, we offer you made-to-measure shower screens for a perfect fit. Our new washbasins are finished off with intelligent furniture modules, high-quality support plates and illuminated mirrors.

Set a stylish highlight with a free-standing bath or an attractive washbasin. Or design your bathroom with a harmonised appearance, with a shower area matching the floor colour and the appropriate shower enclosure. Our washbasins, shower solutions and baths complement each other with functional and optical perfection – in every combination.

Studio job + willem nieland: firmship 42

Antwerp based studio job has collaborated with dutch nautical architect willem nieland to create ‘firmship 42‘, a classically crafted boat finished with a detail and precision that reinforces its timelessness. featuring a warm and neutral palette, the ship aims to modernize traditional nautical aesthetics.

The deck, interior and color palette were all designed under the direction of studio job with the forceful and sculptural exterior, measuring 42 feet in length, designed by nieland.

Natural teak on the doors, floors and cabin interior offset the otherwise grey surfaces of the body, railings and throttle. exposed teak on the exterior of the boat will eventually grey with age, further emphasizing the monochromatic scheme. on the cabins interior, the teak is applied in areas to appear as though it is planks of seamlessly joined wood.

Inside, icons of the seafaring past have been subtly introduced through upholstery and prints that include graphic interpretations of anchors, moby dick and skull and crossbones. a stained glass window between the cabin and the pilothouse displays the same iconography.

Studio job’s previously produced bronze bell and marquetry cabinet are incorporated into the design, which consists of a series of pieces – both inside and out- that were created specifically for the this project.

Home Design Show

17-20 March 2011.  New York

Martell, the oldest of the great Cognac houses, has collaborated with iconic French architect Jean Nouvel on a new project. “The Martell Amber Lamp by Jean Nouvel” is a stunning object of design which will be produced in limited edition.

Nouvel was inspired by the warm colors and reflections in Martell cognac and by the way the light radiates throughout the bottle. This luminous sculpture consists of an imposing glass bulb with a tall metal staff; its striking architecture glows with life and captivates with sleek, poetic charm.

Jean Nouvel has expressed his full talent in creating not so much a lamp, but a light that emits endless luminous pulses in shimmering golden and copper waves. The waves modulate the space by creating a warm atmosphere for reflection, for the pleasure of tasting, a refined art of living or the enjoyment of a shared experience.

50 Martell Amber Lamps will be produced and displayed at select locations across the globe including art galleries and museums.
